Økokrim seeks information about a bitcoin address
In connection with the investigation of fraudulent use of one of the covid-19 financial support schemes, the Norwegian National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime (Økokrim) is seeking information about persons who try to exchange bitcoins originating from a specific address.
Økokrim is aware that criminal proceeds are being held in the following bitcoin address:
"By making the bitcoin address public, the entire cryptocurrency industry is given equal opportunity to help us uncover who controls these funds", says Senior Public Prosecutor Petter Nordeng of Økokrim.
People and companies who receive funds from this address are requested to withhold the funds and contact the local police as soon as possible.
"Confiscation of proceeds of crime is highly prioritised. ØKOKRIM therefore has a clear expectation that these funds will not be converted or transferred for the benefit of anyone involved in this fraud", says Nordeng.
Økokrim also asks anyone who in good faith has received funds from this address to contact the police.
